After studying three-dimensional design from 1969 to 1973 at Trent Polytechnic Nottingham, I began my working life in Architecture. My career then took a different direction when I moved into the retail design industry, working with clients in the UK, Europe, and South America, for all of my professional life until retirement.
During the past 4 years, I have revisited the drawing, and painting skills that had initially led me to my profession and rediscovered the curiosity regarding 3-dimensional spaces and how people fit into that space and the surrounding environment. The traditional medium of watercolour for me provides a quick and hopefully spontaneous route, to capture that moment.
“Painting in watercolour is like walking a tight-rope; one must find perfect balance between what the paint wants to do and what the artist wants to do, or all is lost”
