Opal’s is inspired from her childhood, comics and nature, and from how things are made and work. She loves looking for illusions and magnification in nature and replicates it within her fused glass art, using a variety of techniques to develop each piece with design and refining processes between every kiln firing.
Audrey captures the moment and atmosphere of a place and describes to the viewer how the place feels through gesture, texture, mark making and colour. The landscape is more than just scenery, it is made up of layers of history, layers of geology, seasons and weather.
These two artist’s work are unified by their love of light, colour and depth. Opal embraces the properties of glass producing high gloss pieces that soak up light giving a natural glow to the work and purity and depth to the colours.
Audrey’s paintings display a mastery of colour and depth. Brush marks, smears and scratches add textures and form that teases the light across the surface and captures the landscape in their true rugged state. On closer inspection, these landscapes reveal an abstract world as colour and mark making dance across the canvas.
