IMPRINT
A group exhibition by Audrey Imber, Anja Penger-Onyett and Victoria Johns
These artists are linked by their love of the landscape and the forms and patterns found in the natural world.
VICTORIA
You could say Victoria has a slight obsession with looking at the world in an obscure way. She focuses on new ways of seeing the world around her by flattening out our 3D world. “Whenever possible I’ll grab the window seat in an aeroplane so I can snap away at the birds-eye views passing me by.”
This privileged view point in the sky gives her intriguing aerial views that flatten out man-made features, in turn highlighting what nature has to offer. Victoria is an abstract painter and printmaker, mark making with mixed media is key to depicting details of these views that she enjoys, scale, space, shape, colour, pattern and texture.
ANJA
The inspiration for Anja’s thrown, stoneware comes from the shapes, colours and detail seen in nature. Her ever popular seed heads and garden decorations are fired at high temperatures so that they can be enjoyed in the garden all year round. Her latest projects are hand built rectangular vases on which she uses a variety of marks and glazes which can also represent abstract landscapes. Her ongoing exploration and experimentation with glazes and decoration techniques means Anja’s work is unique and very collectable.
AUDREY
Mark making, colour and texture are the key elements in Audrey’s landscape paintings. She works in acrylic and oil paint to give the viewer an ‘essence’ of a place rather than a figurative representation. Her work is dynamic and gives a sense of spontaneous impression.
